China has unveiled a new drone aircraft called the Jiutian SS-UAV, marking a major advancement in aerospace drone technology. It has been nicknamed a "drone mothership" due to its ability to carry and launch multiple smaller drones simultaneously.
Key Capabilities of the Jiutian SS-UAV:
Maximum takeoff weight: Around 16 tons
Weapons payload: Can carry over 100 small drones or up to 1,000 kg of missiles
Operational altitude: Up to 15,000 meters
Range: Approximately 7,000 kilometers
Drone launch system: Can deploy small drones from a compartment under the aircraft, enabling coordinated swarm operations
Purpose and Use:
This UAV is designed for multi-role missions, including reconnaissance, electronic warfare, emergency response, and high-risk cargo delivery. It can function as a mobile airborne command center, controlling swarms of smaller drones during operations.
